Default Engine mod questions

I came across this picture and I found some interesting mods on the engine, plus some food for thought.

First of all, black finish. I asked my indy workshop on how to paint my engine black. The answer was several coats of black heat spray. Powder coating is not suggested due the fact that coating is too thick and the engine easily overheats. But is black spray durable? My indy usually applies it on old engines with oil marks etc. It is a good solution on old, "aged" engines, but what about newer engines. Is it worthy?

Second, highlighted fins. Again, my indy achieves that with careful hand-sanding the black sprayed engine with thick sandpaper. Has anyone done that? i mean how is it possible to achieve chrome look-a-like highlighted fins from a satin finished sportster engine?

Last, has anyone seen or implemented that grinding on the gearcase cover?

Engine paint is only as good as the prep...that being said they can take some abuse. and with proper care they can look good for a good long time
