Default clutch noise

Is it normal for the clutch to make kind of a slamming noise when you kick it back down through the gears as you slow down. This "slamming" noise is made while the clutch handle is pulled in and i push the shifter down with my foot. Also, sometimes when I stop to park the bike it doesnt always want to go into neutral. I have to move the bike back and forth or sometimes let the clutch handle slip a little to get it into neutral. I recently changed the oil in the tranny so its lubed up good.

Have you adjusted the clutch lately? Do you know how? If not I can post instructions.

Is it the clutch that is making the noise or is it the tranny?
Sounds to me like you are refering to the tranny. My tranny has a distinct clunk when I downshift into first.

Dont know how yet. After talking with some other riders in my area most seem to have the same "clunk" noise when downshifting and everyone says that they have trouble once in a while while trying to find neutral. Seems to be a sportster/harley thing I guess. I would however like to know how to adjust the clutch.

A clunk is normal and neutral is found easiest when the bike is moving 1-2 mph.

If your clutch is draging ( in need of adjustment) it will be hard to find neutral, clunking in a harley for the most part is normal.

Probably need an adjustment a cable will stretch after a period of time and it will not disengage the clutch completely if it's an old cable it may need replacing but do an adjustment first.
