Cleaning with paint thinner and some scuffing with a Scotch-Brite pad...
Here is that mega dollar H-D paint...
Bake in oven at 350 degree's for about 15 minutes. I used some foil to avoid having to touch the part again before spraying. The paint wrinkled nicely for me this time without any further heating. The derby cover is a high wear area for those with mid controls...being painted may be good for future touch-up's.
I like that, looks good. I would do it if i didnt have the Willie G skulls
Ok ill give it a try next weekend, ill leave the cover( the part where the shifter connects to the bike) on and tape off or somthing to paint it black...should I tale it to a pro, and I have a crom plate " live to ride"... Rick would your method work on that???
It's going to be tuff to do a decent job without removing the primary cover, but you are game to try it. If you are talking about a derby cover with the raised emblems try using a small artist's brush and coat the top surfaces of the raised emblem with grease, then paint. Once the paint has dried you can clean the grease off the emblem.
The "grease" method is what I used to paint this sprocket...I have little patience for masking lol.
