More Help Please...
Sorry I now see it is an 07 model.Technology does cost more money that is why I have a carbed model.
I don't mind tearing into a carb'd bike, doing whatever, but I'm totally lost when it comes to the newer EFI stuff..
My FatBoy is the first fuel injected Harley I've owned, and I am just lucky to have some friends that are excellent mechanics/tuners. They have the right equipment, and know what they are doing when it comes to tuning EFI system.
But after talking with them it appears to be fairly easy to increase your horsepower/torque figures on a EFI bike if the tuner knows what he is doing.
My FatBoy had the so-called "Stage 1" completed, the correct download installed, and a SERT was also installed. When this was all done the bike was dyno tuned and it is now pulling 79 horsepower at 5,500 RPM, and 84 pounds of torque at a low 3,750 RPM, all at the rear wheel. From what I understand that is about 14 horsepower over the stock figures.
I'm very tempted to go with what is called a Stage 2 1550 conversion. If done correctly (and more importantly tuned correct using the SERT) I was told that the bike should pull around 90 horsepower and 96 pounds of torque at the rear wheel.
But I'm an idiot when it comes to all this electronic programming stuff, so I'd just have to set back and watch and let them do their thing.
Sorry to hijack this thread but I just have to say...Sportypig, that is an awesome photo in your sig.
Thanks, I hope the folks in Milwaukee think so also. I've submitted it for consideration in the HOG Staff Photographer activity.
