Default Handlebars

I have been looking all over for handle bar measurements. I have 2 inch Risers and some pretty drag style bars. I really want to get some apes but not sure how to measure for comfort without buying a couple different types. I like a narrow look and am 6'

Any thoughts ?

I would say some 14-16" apes. I have 10" Z bars(29" spread) with 1" risers and want to go up another inch. I am 5ft 5In. Mine are real comfy, but think 1 more inch would be perfect for my height.

I am 6ft and I just put 10in bars on my bike with a 1in riser.

It's very comfy...

I have 14" Apes on a 1" riser and am 6'1" they pretty much sit at my shoulder height wise but are VERY comfortable on long trips.

This is me just sitting on my bike

A couple of months ago, I put 16" apes on my existing 2" risers. I'm 6'1". Best thing I ever did. I have a torn up lower back and the higher bars really helped in that area. No more pressure and pain after a long ride. It also looks good with a windshield, believe it or not, with the taller apes. That way I can get ride time all year round down here. I had 12" apes before the 16s. They were good, but the 16s are awsome. Comfort, control, and looks.

Cheapest way to make sure you find what feels best for you is setup a little fitting using pvc pipe/fittings, this is how I do ergonomic fittings for clients that are tired of swapping bars hoping to find the right one...
Everything from hand angle, pullback, rise, and width can be played with until you get what feels best for you.

You can get an idea from the pics on this page http://www.8541hog.net/bars.shtml these are the bars I built for myself a couple years ago. At each step I mocked it up to make sure I was headed in the right direction. Probably more work than you might think it is worth, but the results have been extremely comfortable all day long.

I've got 10" mini's with 4" risers. So that's 14". I'm 6'1". They work for Me. I personally wouldn't go higher than 16". But that's just My opinion.

This was a huge help thanks!! Next step is figuring out how much I can go up with out re cabling the bike. But I suspect that I am going to want to be in the 14" range either 12" on my 2" rise or an actual 14".

Was wondering how difficult the lengthing or changing out of your brake gas and clutch line was for the move up of bars. Think I finally settled on 14 total rise 12 3/4 sitting rise bars from,Dennis Kirk
