Default Saddlebag supports?

Ok so I have to install some saddlebag supports...of course I didn't get any hardware but hey they were really cheap.....I did some searching and I know if I don't take out both shock bolts I won't need a lift....is that correct?....

This might be a stupid question but I do need special bolts to replace them?....I know they have to be longer obviously but they're holding a lot of weight...I don't want anything to snap in half!....does anyone know what size they are?....can I get them at a ahrdware store or do I have to go to the dealership?.....thanks for any help...don't wanna mess it up obviously.....ohh I got a 2005 sportster 120 if that matters....Ryan

You will need longer bolts on both front and back if you have the quick detach docking hardware as well. You WILL need a jack or lift of some sort if your going to pull the bolts out of the shocks.

They aren't the quick detach ones....I thought if I did one side at a time I wouldn't need a jack?....Ryan

Youll still need a jack to realign the bolt for the shock.

have had bags on my bike for 4+ years without any frame or support... why do you need a support system? mine are held on with ez brackets and the bolts that came with them (i did the install and they do not require taking off the shocks). and i used very cheap bags- cause i thought i would replace them after a year or so- but i didnt need to !

I will go out and get my hardware and measure it for you but youll have to take your bolts to a hardware store or Menards (where i got the docking peg bolts) and get the correct bolts.

Shock bolt: 3/8" x 3"

Docking peg bolt: 1/4" x 3.5" (if your keeping your docking peg. subtract an inch if not)
