Hi crew..
a while back I asked some ignorant questions about riding in florida and I was grateful for the responses/ advice. Just got back from a wonderful 4 day trip orlando-FL City-Key West-Vero-Orlando. Orlando HD on 192 gave me a great deal on a ultra limited ($126/day with full coverage). We went down the center of the state to 41 and crossed the glades over to Fl City, then to Key West the next day. Drop dead gorgous riding!
Only real issue was hwy 1/ i95 in Miami area.. a guy could get killed there. I'm sure my knuckles were still white well past Pompano.. A charmin truck exploded or something just at the start of 95, and there was TP all over the hwy. I had no place to go but thru the mess at speed. Streamers of TP were still on the bike well past Ft Lauderdale.
The bike didn't have hwy pegs and I was burning the **** out of my leg, which is why we deviated to the free way. .. get some air moving over the engine and try cool the jewels. That stop and go traffic was brutal!
Bikes were blackened by the love bugs only twice.. just coming into the glades and again coming across from Merrit to St Cloud. Even with farings and faceshields those little ba***ds got into everything.
Next time I'm renting a classic and duct taping a broom stick across the engine guards.. and maybe come down when it isn't 95 degrees.

Wow! We thought you may have missed our little "Welcome to South Florida!" display...
sometimes we may use a "Heinz bar-b-que beans" truck...
Sometimes it is a '69 chevy truck full of water mellons...(you never know).
Last time I rode to key west....Barbara asked me why I was riding so fast (about 90 MPH
through Miami)....I just turned and said "I am trying to stay out of the way...."
Please come back again.
