A few weeks ago my tread on my tire separated, They were Michelin Scorcher 31 180/65/16. So I called Michelin and complained. They told me I had to go to a Michelin dealer to have a look at it, so I did. I went to Iron Valley Harley Davidson now I did not buy the tire there go it at Dennis Kirk. Brain looked at it and said he has seen that lately on these tires,. So after we called Michelin and told them it is a defected tire. As you can imagine they had us jumping throw all kinds of hoops. Service manger Brain road it out with me and I got a full refund on the new tire that I got from Dennis Kirk, $228.00. Still cost me to tow the bike to my house, and Iron Valley to put the new tire on.So when this happened It was getting close so I got both the front and rear. After seeing some other tires at the HD shop like my tire not sure if I did the right thing buying Michelin again. We are lucky
to have Harley dealers in out area like Iron Valley they are part of the Whites family of dealers in Penna.
I run Metzeler 880s front and year. Have for years. Tens of thousands of miles on them overall. The tires last and have great grip, but they're expensive.
Good thing you weren't learning this lesson about tires. Never go cheap, you won't save any money.

What makes everyone I went cheep? Don't do that . Metzeler880, Dunlap eagles are all about the same price. I have run Metzeler the last ones I had I did not like they slipped in the wet .they I went to Dunlops American eagles good tires, tried these Michelins first ones I liked this is the second set, hope the third set are good. All three brands I was getting between 16 and 18000 on the rear and 30 to 3600 on the front. I got to say Michelins do hold the road good. Last year I went to Florida from Pennsylvania about 1100 miles in the rain to about N.C. pored like hell and I was running about 75 to 80 all the way they held the road very good.
Then I have over paid for my tires if you got the set at 228. Unless I misread that, in that case my apologies. Just giving suggestions from what I use and enjoy. You've had the Metzelers and didn't like them, fair enough. I have not experienced slipping in the wet, but I have a softail which is a different beast.
