Well you have doubled your input in 10 years with that post. Type a little more, go over to the games section to get your post count up if you want. Good people over there. Enjoy.

Not always. After my last desert race, I had to relearn to speak, walk, write, etc. and I was wearing a DOT FF helmet during the crash. Helmets are not a panacea. However they probably also helped during my other off road crashes. And I know they helped during my first street wreck four years prior. And my second street wreck 32 years later.

The real importance of helmets, IMO, is that they sometimes allow a rider to get up and ride, or at least walk away, after an unplanned incident. Of course nobody, except the rider and any witnesses, knows about those incidents. The next important thing, again IMO, is that they can prevent, or at least minimize, a head injury that may affect a rider every waking second for the rest of their life. Not every incident results in immediate,
or even sure, death.

Considering the odds sometimes life, such as it is, goes on and on.

I would like to know what " you" think on this.
Here's a story of a good friend of mine riding his HD....( keep in mind, this is Canada)
He is following a car, the car slows, WHY....
Because the car in front is making a left turn.
Buddy doesn't know and passes, as the second car turns left, he hit's it broad side.
He dies at the the scene, he is wearing a helmet, but because his head blew up, they had to cut the helmet off him.
So, my point or discussion is, is it better or not.
As someone who will eventually need an organ transplant, I support the right of anyone to ride a motorcycle without a helmet.

"Let Those Who Ride Decide" There was a day when I would never wear a helmet or ride a bike with a windshield. Today, I don't go anywhere without both. I have taken a short ride to the store with no helmet and enjoyed that freedom and even was tempted to go for a long ride before going home. That thought lasted for about 2 seconds. Your head- your choice. I don't believe that an individual's personal responsibility should be mandated.

It seems that some States have the option,
I just wish it was the same here in Canada. Ryder's are much more aware of their surroundings as compared to allot of others imho. It seems that bikers have that third sense and carry it when they drive their vehicles also.
