Nothing beats riding @ 60 MPH and getting hit square in the forehead with a June Bug, hard shell on the outside juicy & squishy on the inside...............don't ask me how I know.

I don't know about that ... Try a huge cicada caught at the corner of the lip half going in the mouth and the other slithering up into your eye all while doing 70 in the inside lane now partially blind and getting ready to heave :<(
damned bugs.... been hit dead center in forehead, one of the sunglasses lens, and various other spots. Got hit in the glasses with wifey on back. I came to a screeching halt.... she was upset I stopped because we were following her sister and boyfriend and she did not want to get too far back. She's chewing me out and I simply handed her my sunglasses and said here clean this. Of course she wouldn't touch them so I cleaned them up. And took my time!!! Hate bugs!!! But helmet does take the brunt on some of 'em!!!
The only two states that I have resided in gave a choice...The states that I neighbored, not so much.
In my younger days I would venture out helmetless and one day on the backroads of NE Ct I inadvertently ventured over the Massachussetts line and met a wonderful MC state trooper...
Lo and behold 30 years later when I moved to SC, I was enjoying the lovely weather here and somehow I wandered into NC where I met a wonderful NC State trooper..
Now that I live here full time and see that all the tourist traffic contributes to stupidity, I wear one and feel better plus my wandering skills will never produce another ticket
I like the freedom to choose. I have that in the state I live. It wasn’t always that way, they repealed the mandatory helmet law years ago. I have had a severe crash , where a helmet protected me from a bad head injury. I choose to wear a minimalist helmet but I don’t judge others who choose not to wear one. If you do choose not to wear a helmet and you suffer a head injury don’t expect someone else to pay your medical bills. Just my .
Here in Canada we are obliged to wear helmet's.
Is it true in the US that you have the option of to wear or not?
I've seen movie's...lol, where they don't wear helmet's...
Just curious, and what your thought's are on this.
Personally, if I was going around the corner etc, I don't see where a helmet is necessary, but...I guess it's just personal choice, i don't know.
I wish I could ride without or with, but that option is not available to me.
Since you asked "Just curious, and what your thought's are on this".
If it bothers a person, for whatever reason, to wear a helmet that 'bother' is only in effect for the few minutes or hours while they are actually wearing the helmet.
Head injury recipients that survive, which is probably most, are 'bothered' every waking second for the rest of their life.
Living in South Carolina, we are not forced to wear one. But I wear a half helmet anyway. It's not mandatory, but I feel better wearing than not wearing one. Sort of like I feel better wearing a seat belt when I drive my car. Will it really make a difference in a wreck? Who knows.. but my chances are probably better with one than without.
