I have a 2013 Street Glide
I put the Harley Davidson premium shocks on this past weekend
Do they soften up any after some miles of riding?
I have the adjustment **** counter clockwise the entire way, I can bounce up and down on the seat as hard as I can and it seems as though instead of shocks I have solid steel bars bolted on in their place.
Does any shock company make shocks that will soak up the bumps for a guy that is 175lbs. Thanks
I bought my bike with 4K on it. Rode it for about 100 miles before I switched to progressives. I thought I might have a problem with a frozen swing arm (if that's possible) because, like you, I couldn't get the rear to move at the lowest setting and I'm 200 lbs. The progressives are great and easily adjustable when I load up the bags and TBag for a long trip.
I've had the 12" HD premium shocks for a couple years now and they are stiff when new and need some break-in time. It seems like the more miles I put on them the better the ride. I'm 170 lbs and ride solo 90% of the time so I leave mine at 0 clicks. I think the ride quality is a huge improvement over stock from the start as the rear-end feels planted with no squishyness. I'm sure the 13" version rides even better. They will emphasize how bad the front-end is, so be prepared to upgrade that as well.
rpking, I had the same shocks and just changed them out last weekend in Vegas with Terrycable Ultra low shocks. Terry can change the spring to fit your weight. Works great on my FLTRX .
