Hi,new here so I'll explain what happened. While on the Fall ride in Tomahawk last Sept., my weatherstrip fell out & I was caught in the cold rain. While heading back to the cabin, the bike shorted out for a split second. I figured I got water up in there. Well fast forward to last week, while changing the oil, I noticed the sound on the radio wouldn't come on. So I went to this forum & found out how to reset the radio, which I achieved after several attempts! I adjusted the head light & thought I was good to go. Trailered bike to FL. Went to start bike up, no radio! Went out that nite, on the way home no headlite! Today, ran some errands, still no headlite but at one of the stops the radio worked until I shut it off. What kind of short do I have? Where do I start? thanks. The bike is an "09 Classic
My radio problem was the same as yours but I have an Ultra. Do you have a "speaker/headset switch"on your switch panel? If you do then try switching back and forth to see if you can get audio output.
I could do it with mine and get audio for a short time then it would quit again. It turned out to be a bad radio. A fairing bracket had broken and caused excessive vibration of the radio. Apparently, the audio is routed via a couple of traces on the circuit board and the board can crack causing no audio out to the speakers.
Do your passing lights work? I so, check the head light plug and the wiring to your head light because the passing lights get their power from the head light lo beam circuit.
