Default Drive Belt

Want to check tension on drive belt on my street glide. Don't have the tool. There are lines by the little window on the belt guard. Can I use this to check it?

yes,

you apply 10 pounds of pressure pushing up on the belt in the center, and check the deflection with the gauge lines on the belt guard.
it's kinda on you to know how 10 pounds feels.

how much deflection is in your manual- it varies by year and model

I would get a gauge , they are cheap assurance to knowing you have it right.

Yes the lines on the belt guard are there for checking deflection.

I have the tool but after using it once or twice and seeing how much pressure is 10 lbs I now just use my fingers.

A bit loose is better than a bit tight.

Thanks guys. I know it's not rocket science but just want to be sure it's right.

The tool and the lines work in conjunction with one another.
