Default Audio on rk without batwing

Im interested in try to add audio to my 2013 rk. I dont want a batwing. I liked the set up that the cvos use to have with the vented lowers as iv just noticed they dont setup the cvo rk like that anymore(why?). Any way im curious to know if the sound of chromes are better than harley boom? Seems to be all i can find for simple solution right now with out batwing

Simplest, and likely least expensive is to get a SENA SMH10, you can bluetooth from your phone, or there is a 3mm jack to plug in an ipod....

I've found the speakers in the helmet sound way better than any speakers on the bike.

Welcome to the forum!

It's your bike, so do what you wish. But before you buy something like Harley Boom, research reviews. I've read that type of system isn't the all that great. I like SafetyMan's suggest above as an alternate solution.

And this is just my opinion of course, but those speakers look just hideous mounted to the bars of a RK. I had thought about them too a few years ago, but then I saw a set in person mounted on a RK and decided I didnt need the tunes that bad.

This is the reason I ended up with a RK this time around and skipped the radio all together. I had over $700 dollars in speakers and an amp on my last bike and at 75MPH the sena still sounded better.

If you don't wear a helmet, this is not an option. Anybody know if it is possible to plug an mp3/iphone directly into an amp?

I have dealt with this guy a bunch of times and everything he sells is high quality stuff.
For the money, it would be hard to put a real stereo on a Road King for less.

I just took the Boom windshield mount setup off of mine. It sounded decent and I enjoyed it for 3 seasons but, I was tired of always having to take my eyes off the road to control the MP3 player. Plus when parking the bike for a short time, hooking and unhooking everything up and finding music was tedious. The magnetic pouch is marring my tank which now needs buffed out. All in all, I liked it, but not worth the hassle. From a performance standpoint though, I would recommend it. If you get your settings right on the MP3 player, the sound is quite good for what it is.

I ride a Heritage, not a Road King, but the install would be the same. These are the easiest to mount, and sound quite good for what they are.

I've been considering a few options, leaning toward the Sena SMH10 right now. The HD Boom windshield system seems like a decent low cost option, and at the other end, check out the system Onthello built for this RK. Pictures are gone but you'll get the idea, uses headlight buckets on crash-bar to house speakers, iPod driven bag amp, more speakers in bags.

I use U-clear boomless headset blue tooth connected to my I-phone. The sound is great and I'm not forcing everyone else to listen to my music.

Joe's fork bag radio

I have to say this is probably the best thing I have put on my RK in a long time. The sound is crisp, clear and loud very loud. It was a very quick install and pretty painless.
