I am having this issue as well. I put 13" prime apes on my 15 SGS and the light came on a couple weeks ago for about 10 miles, seemed a little sluggish but ran 70mph fine, shut bike off while we went in and ate, came out and it was fine. Had rode it a few times and a couple hundred miles with no more light so was just thinking a glitch, but yesterday the light came on on the way home from work. Checked codes and sure enough P1510 and P2138. Of course when I fired it back up it was fine. Leaving for Bikes, Blues and BBQ Thursday morning!!! Great timing and it was fine for 2000 miles!!!
Question is can I leave the bars mounted and just pull the grip and sensor out far enough to do away with that green plug and solder the wires? Or do I need to tear it all back apart? I'm sure there's no chance of getting ANY parts in time, so solder it is.

Pretty sure there is not enough room to pull the wire far enough out - solder them and stuff them back in - my guess is to pull the bars.
Has anyone else encountered this. I changed out my bars yesterday on my 2015 SGS and although I did have a hiccup, when I got it all together I had no throttle response and after retracing my steps I discovered I had rewired the TBW plug slightly wrong. Now all is fine but the check engine light is on. I went for a 30 min ride to see if it would go off but no luck. Any thoughts, also is it possible to check the codes without a reader? Help is much appreciated.
