I've heard that if you don't keep the stock air shocks vertical when they are removed that they will need to be rebuilt because the oil can't flow back through the holes or something, is this true? I'm curious as I was thinking about getting some stock street glide 12" shocks but was wondering how you would buy them off ebay or something and know if they have been laid on their side, which would pretty much be impossible to have them shipped from somewhere and not be laid down.
it is to keep the oil from leaking out- if it does, then you'd have to drain it all and replace with the correct amount and grade ( you can change this to tune the shock...there are threads on this).
I'd suggest you buy locally from a seller who already knows to say that " the shocks have been stored upright and sealed from oil leaking out"
you can put a tube between the 2 shocks and they wont leak even if you lay them down.
You Can always go with a Air shock such as "skullycustoms.com". It is total adjustable on the Fly. Single rider, Passenger, Soft for Crappy roads or up tall for a firm ride in the back country or twisties.
5 inches of total travel .this system offers 2 inch lowered and 3 inches taller than stock. very versatile and easy install.
Check it out. 599.99
You must own or work for skullycustoms since this is the 3rd time today that I'm seeing your advertising for skullycustoms.
If you are going to replace your shocks, I wouldnt bother with HD shocks. You can get a decent price on progressives at directcycleparts.com
I don't understand these websites. You have to pick the brand you want and then pick the product you want without any description to compare and then pick the shock you want not knowing the difference because no description and then call, email or add to cart to get a price. If a company wants to sell something put some effort into it.

Yeah I found it confusing too. I had to go to progressives site to find the part number that fit and then select the right part number. Their cost are cheaper though once you hit add to cart.
