I suppose that would depend on the rack you are looking at.

on my 2009 FLHTC I use a $12 pepboys rubber stubby which I just kinda push to the rear when I mount the tourpak

I had the same one on my 08 SG that mkguitar has and the rack didn't interfere with it. That being said, I thought that the antenna was so damn ugly that I installed one under the fairing. The reception wasn't great so, I eventually had a satellite system installed.

Remove antenna, take the bolt out of the antenna mount, turn it about 60* forward, feed antenna under the fender rail, re-attach antenna, zip tie mount, buy black plug from Harley for about $4. You are good to go after that.

antennas work better vertical...as you found out.

Although I get free xm, I don;t use much the programming is lacking and the bandwidth has been reduced since the sirius merge...degrading audio quality.

& weather radio is important to us during monsoon season

How did it affect your reception doing this?

I didn't do it on mine but a buddy's. He didn't lose any reception at all but we are close to all the stations. I have a hidden antenna but my reception is not the best because of my amp interfering. I only listen to Bluetooth anyway on my Sony stereo so no big deal to me. Do a search in the audio section and you'll come up with lots of answers. Good luck.

Just put a quick detach stealth rack on my 2013 RGC and the antenna does not interfere at all.
