My HD shop manual says "Apply Loctite Thread Sealant with Teflon 565 to threads". This is NOT a thread locker.
I've never used any kind of thread locker on my drain plugs and in over 300,000 miles between three different big twins never had one come loose.
The factory puts white Teflon sealer on the threads, the dealer sells it as Loctite 565. I use it on all drain plugs, never a leak or problem.
I think if you buy a new drain plug the white Loctite is already on it.

And when you no longer see any metal powder on your Drain Plug Magnets,,, I went with these... which happened to 2 of my 3 plugs around 17k... http://www.cyclesolutionsonline.com/...rain_Plugs.htm
I never used Teflon Tape or sealer of any kind on my Drain Plugs, just the O-Rings.
I never have. But whenever a dealer has drained/replace fluid for whatever reason (I.e I'm on a 7000 mile trip) I notice next time I drain, they had used the white sealant (which is not a thread locker)
No, I do not use thread locker. Like other post said no leaks and the o ring will prevent the plug from vibrating loose. Just make sure you use the recommended touqe specs and check for leaks after.
