It says about halfway down the page, middle left... "PLUG, W/SEALANT - 765

Go to the free parts lookup sites like Granite State HD & look up the oil drain plug for a '15 twin cam... PN 765

Here's a primary drain plug for the same bike, note the sealant... http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-OEM-Harl...-/261563561594

Yes that's $19 for a $3 plug, but the shipping is FREE!

I guess I've been very lucky doing it wrong for the last 20 years. All these years and bikes and I've never done anything but an occasional o-ring change and have never had a problem.

Just asking.....why would you suppose there is a need for 'sealant' when there's a o-ring on that plug?

And if I wanted to nitpick that is the name of the part, not the description.

The answer is obvious - no sealant is ever needed on anything other than tapered pipe threads. But H-D does as H-D does, regardless.
Pipe tape or dope isn't anything I want anywhere close to my oil reservoir. A piece or that crapola can easily block an oil passage. Been there, done that - learned an expensive lesson.

Don't worry about it. You have a gauge in your dash board that will tell you if the plug falls out.

The threads do not seal , the oring does. Maybe they use it to prevent galling of the threads from a aluminum pan and steel plug.

I use the Dimple magnetic drain plugs, in all holes, no thread locker and no o rings needed.

I use them as well. Reminds me I need to get another as I gave my dad one when he got his bike worked over to a 124

Never have used thread lock of any kind on drain plugs and would not recommend it.
