seriously looking at new road king custom. really don't know much about road kings as i i'm moving up from a fxsti. so, if there is something i should know or just info or opinions or whatever i would appreicate any comments, good, bad, indifferent about this model. kinda feels like those beach bars have to go and maybe a mustang daytripper? thanks.
although i have never ridden any of the fx models, i would have to say the ride quality of a RK has to be much better. as far as the custom. i like the clean look of the front fender and the combo if the lower profile with the softlook bags are cool. i agree with the beach bar thing, they arent by favorite but i think you will be happy with the RK over the FX...good luck with your decision
I have a 2005 king classic & love it. No complaint & it is the only way to go if you are going to have a significant other on the back.

wow, that s.o.b. looks wicked with those apes, thanks. i am really leaning in the flhrs direction, just don't know about now or waiting a little. is it a forgone conclusion that the road kings will have the 6 speed and wider rears for 2007?
I have RK Custom 2005 and love it! I have a Mustang solo saddle and matching 13.5 in passenger pillion. My girlfriend and I love our respective seats-very comfortable to ride. I also like the handlebars, but I am a short guy. I think anybody over 5' 8" would have to bend too much at the elbows. I am 5'5", so they are a perfect fit for me.

I bought an '05 RK Cust and I really enjoy it. Your right on the money about the beach bars....it almost felt like holding onto a wheel barrel. I had the dealer install the RK Reach bars and they are perfect for me (I'm 6'). I also added a windshield for comfort. Any of the touring models are going to be a much improved ride over what you have now.
