Needing to get off this factory seat. If you had to ride from NY to California in 4 days and you could get any seat you wanted what would it be? Taking all things into consideration like seat hight. Would you go with the mustang? Ultimate seat? Sundowner? Corbin? Zepplin? And why?
To make that kind of ride YOU need a seat to FIT YOUR BUTT like a glove... I have done that run four times - I took my time - Round trips ranged from 6200 miles to 8000+ miles... 21 days to 26 days... The ONLY seat for us was the link below
Note - fourth HD since 96 and forth Corbin.... Below will show you why "I" think it is the way to go... Bad news is it can ONLY be done in Hollister, CA
You're going to get a wide range of opinions to that one. Every A$$ is different. I tried the Mean City mod route and it wasn't for me. Better than stock, but still not what I was after. Bought a Hammock and didn't like it at all although a bunch of people swear by them. Sold mine to a forum member. Bought a used Air Zeppelin off eBay and hated the riding position. Moved me up and closer to the tank. No Bueno. That one sits in my garage. Recently bought a Mustang Super Tourer and, ding ding ding, we may have a winner. I thought it was a brick when I first sat on it, but after a thousand miles or so, it really is the seat for me. I bought the matching tour pak back rest since my bike had the older button upholstery. The Mustang moves me back an inch or so and that's fine with me.
When you're doing your research, be sure to check how the seat will change your riding position because it may force a change in your handlebar adjustment. I had to bring my 12" apes back a bit for the new riding position.
I'd say sit on a few at a bike night, but it's late in the year for that in NY. Of course, sitting on a bike is a lot different than all day in the saddle. If your bike is the newer frame, Harley has the demo program you could make use of.
Just wanted to fill you in on the madness I went through before I found the right one for me. Many guys here have gone through the same thing and it gets kinda pricey. Good luck!

My wallet and my a$$ like the stock ultra seat and my shocks tuned for a floaty ride.
I use a streetglide seat for rides under 4 or 5 hours.

How does the shocks have anything to do with a numb butt? Smooth ride or whatevr your butt still in the seat not moving. Shocks absorbs bumps and stuff, dont knwo how they help your butt from getting numb. Just curious.
C&C Solo with the back rest, I could ride from the east coast to the west coast stop and have lunch and jump right back on the bike and head back to the east coast.
