What is you guys think about using your high beam for more visibility from others? Is it ok to use your high beam on a broad day light and or city driving?
Or not use high beam and just spend money to add driving/passing lights?
Unless your headlight is modified for both low and high beam to come on together, IMHO...low beam is more visible to cross traffic in the range you want to be seen.
Oh yeah...I have:
-HD daymaker headlight
- Cree LEd bulbs in the spots
- Custom Dynamics LED rings for turn signals
- HD LED fog lights on the crash bars
I ride with everything on...& the headlight on low beam..
Oh yeah, and when in a Patriot Guard funeral procession,I turn on a 6 LED flashing light mounted under the headlight.
I've believe the bike is more noticeable to others if I use my aux lights all the time. Just seems people notice more when they see 3 lights coming at them
like other said , some states it's illegal, some it isn't. Not 100 % sure that the high beams are noticed more or not in in driving , but high beams even in daylight can at least be irritation to other drivers, and not sure that it worth annoying them for questionable results. Also the whole light fixation thing, driving tend to drive towards what they are looking at. and if they fixate on your high beams they may drive right into you . Personally I ten to use the to flash low to low for oncoming traffic if I feel I need to make myself more readily visable.
If they are not looking in your direction they will not see you whether you have high beam on or low beam. If you are running high beams you are making the ones that actually look our direction look away so they are not bothered which then means the people approaching you are not looking at us or where they are driving. High beams used within 500 feet of another vehicle in the badger state is illegal on top of extremely rude and dangerous. I myself like multiple lights on but not bright/blinding lights.
Flashing lights are misleading. Many people assume a flashing light means go ahead and proceed. Therefore they believe you gave them the go ahead to turn right in front of you.
