2003 road king police edition problems

2003 road king police edition problems

just put a set of straight pipes on the king looks like they are really blueing quickly and can really feel a lot more heat coming from them. When I was riding the other night grabbing a handful a little more then often felt like the sparkplugged fouled out changed it in the morning and no change could I have possibly burnt a valve or lost an injector fells like im only running on one cylinder hardly any power and check engine light is on , any ideas ?

Blueing and more heat certainly point towards the mixture being too lean. Not a good thing. Especially with the summer heat added in.

did you alter the fuel injection at all to adjust for the new pipes?

Sounds like you need a tuner of some sort. Maybe you need anew spark plug wire. Are you getting spark from the electrode on that cylinder?

ok sorry not to familiar with posting or answering so here it is. When I installed the straight pipes felt a lot more heat coming from the motor asked if I needed to recalibrate the ignition or fuel injection, I did pull the plug to make sure I was getting spark yes its good . I figured my next step would possibly do a leak down test to see if that could tell me if the valves are sealing in the process of this will let you know what the test shows.

everyone had told me not to do it yet , when riding had to give it a little more throttle then normal or it would bog down or give a cough or backfire . I installed the metal funnels to reduce the size of the throats on the pipes. still didn't seem to change much.
