Default Replace 97 sealed beam with clear halogen

I have a 97 road king, I would like to replace the sealed beam headlight with one of the clear halogen lights.
Any problems? heat? size?

Thanks in advance for your viewing. Any particular year I would want? I'm thinking this is a stock headlight

I replaced the sealed beam on my 07 ultra with a dual beam halogen headlight.
I dont know what you have so I don't know what will fit. I do know that you need more than just the light. You'll also need a new light bucket and the wiring harness. HD sells an upgrade kit with all you'll need. I got lucky and found a used kit on ebay for a very reasonable price.

Easy install. Did this to my 96' Road King. Huge improvement over my old headlight. Plug and play. No issues whatsoever. Purchased OEM from my local HD dealer

Do you know what parts you used? I have an 02 FLHR with a trucklite at the moment but not sure I like the look.

Are you sure yours is a sealed beam? I was just looking up the parts and is shows a 97 as having a separate H4 halogen bulb from the lens assembly.

Why don't you take a look in there and see. I think you're going to find you can indeed replace the bulb.

Yes, you are right, it is a halogen bulb. Then it is the lense that I am wanting to replace. I want to go with the clear lense.

From what I can gather the change to the clear lense happened in 2005. I'm not sure if my 97 halogen bulb will fit in the 2005 clear lense, I may have to replace the entire headlight assembly.

ieatchickens says plug and play, so I'm cool, thanks for the info guys, I will let you know how it works out

Reflector Assy, Headlight DOM 68342-05

Also replaced the passing lamps but don't have that part number.

Thanks man, not even sure I'll do this yet, but just found a new unit on eBay in the UK, 35 quid - snapped it up! :-D

I have the main bucket as that gets retained on the trucklite, but the retaining ring I'll need to get i think - doesn't look pricey though.

Only thing I am not sure about is replacing the plug that connects to the passing lamps, pretty sure the previous owner cut these off....
