And you sir, are the reason mass marketing by industry leaders work so well for them.
I have never installed an aftermarket tuner and am not planning on ever doing it. I have greatly appreciated this thread however, as a way of learning about what to expect from the new M8 motor with documented performance comparisons; and detailed technical insight into how the new M8 motor is engineered.
Throughout my life, I have seen countless claims of increased horsepower, better fuel economy, etc etc etc. Some of them are outright frauds, some are grossly overstated, and some are legit. FM's longevity is evidence of the latter. Personally, I am not offended that FM is unwilling to share information before they are comfortable with it. I am also impressed with Jamie's unwillingness to be trolled.
So, thanks to you, if I were to ever get an M8 bike, and decided that some performance modifications were appropriate; I have absolute confidence that I could buy from Fuel Moto and know that the products were developed using a scientific approach and supported through rigorous testing. I have no problem with a company under-promising and over-delivering.
I own a 2009 96" TC with a simple stage I and HD download. I am pretty happy with it and my motor will have 100k miles on it before the end of Veteran's Day weekend. A lot of people have been talking about an upgrade from a 2 year old Rushmore and not seeing the point; and I completely understand why, but for me... it is a huge upgrade. The new motor represents a top-end rebuild and cam upgrade in a stock bike. The smoother tranny and no drive line lash is some tasty gravy to go with that red meat.
A new top end is in my near future and... hear me now and believe me later... that cost will get some some serious consideration when I look at the new '17's in the showroom.
P.S.
That whine and soft pipes are not going to work for me though.
The whine???? I've got 1400 miles on mine and have yet to hear it. Mine must have stealth whine.
You can hear it pretty well in the video FM posted. It doesn't show up until the higher RPM's, but definitely can hear it over the exhaust note. Some comments suggest that it is hard to hear on top of the motor. It might quiet down some when the bike gets broke in too.

I heard the same with the new bike. After just 600 miles I no longer hear it. I have stock pipes too.
The bike and engine are a joy.... I mean, it's way, way better than the bike I had before. In so many way too...

I have a feeling this will be my reaction too, given the information provided in this thread. I've heard the 17's IRL and I think they are way too quiet, and I am not a "loud pipes saves lives" kind of guy. So, definitely will add slipons.
