Intermittent start problem

Intermittent start problem
I have a 2005 Ultra with 68k miles on it. Well maintained. Battery tested fine and bike is on trickle charger when in garage. But on occasion after I have ridden a while, started and stopped it thru the day, I will go to start the bike and get no turn over. Lights are on, radio works, etc...but I hit the start and NOTHING. I turn it off, on, try again, and fortunately I have yet to be stranded as it eventually clicks, pops, and starts.
Thoughts with this set of symptoms...?

your problem could be as simple as a loose wire or the starter relay- a jumper wire as I describe in that post could get you off the roadside...

I was having a similar problem with my bike. It turned out to be a defective neutral switch. The neutral light would come on but the bike wouldn't crank. I replaced the switch and all is good now.
