Default Help with amplifier

I installed the small rockford fosgate a cpl years back and it seemed easy... i think i used a tutorial. well it stopped working within 6 mnths...so i just bought a 4 channel amp...problem is no RCA jacks coming out of head unit...im lost as to where to start and how to hook this thing up. Any help would be greatly apreciated. Simple 2 speaker in fairing set up...4 channel amp.

you need a line leveler. something like the biketronics one here: http://www.biketronics.com/bt355-hd-...r-2014-and-up/

it allows you to convert the speaker lines to rca outputs. there are several brands out there, but the biketronics one gets good reviews. (disclaimer, i'm using a pac one).

what amp are you running? if you are going with a two speaker system, are you bridging the two output channels for higher power? if so, make sure that your speakers in the fairing have the required impedence. i'm having to replace two speakers on the wife's bike since her amp died and I replaced that, but bridged it is outputting 150 watts into 4 ohms. but is not rated for 2 ohm, which is what her speakers are currently.

I would also spend some time in the audio section of this forum. there are some guys there that really know their stuff. you could benefit from some of their experience.

Here's the link to the pdf on their site: http://mediacdn.jlaudio.com/media/mf...pdf?1467235489

Ground goes to negative post of battery or chassis ground screw in front of battery.

Positive goes to positive post of battery, this should have an inline fuse within 18" of battery.

Remote goes to a switched 12V source for automatic turn on of amp. Most guys use the spare orange/white wire by headlight or tap into cig lighter.

Speaker wires go to front/rear +/- amp outputs.

RCAs go from your head unit output to amp inputs. If you don't have RCA connectors on your HU you will need a line out convertor to convert from high level to low level signal. You only need the line leveler previously mentioned if you have a 14+ rushmore infotainment system.

that was just an example, not necessarily a recommendation, I don't know what bike the op has. like mentioned, i'm using the pac on the 2012.

Big difference between the a PAC LOC SNI-35 (line out converter)and a Line Leveler from Biketronics that was specifically made for the 2014+ head unit to flatten the eq curve.

OP, bring your question on over to the Audio section and we'll help ya out.
