Default Suspension help!

Hey guys

I have a 2014 streetglide special, I had the lower forks swapped out for a black powder coated set when I first got the bike back in 2014. After getting the bike back the bike was banging really badly. After several trips to the repair shop they couldn’t figure out what the deal was. I got a to a point where they got it rideable until now. I just took it apart and noticed the front and bang was coming from the lower legs slamming into cowbell bolts. I just installed a Legend cartridge kit hoping it would solve this issue. Nope it’s just as bad. I followed all the instructions to a T. My buddy has the same bike and measuring from the bottom of his cowbells to the axle his is 1in 1/4 longer on the ground. Up in the air in the jack they are the same length. I’ve contacted legend several times with no results. This is the second set that they have sent me so I am coming to the conclusion that has something to do with the legs or tubes. Any input would be amazing at this point 😩

While I don't have your suspension if it were my bike I would go back to step one and confirm everything is installed to the letter of the instructions to include the correct weight and amount of fork oil.

Look at your fork tubes, where they clamp into the upper tree. On 14 and later the tubes can be slid up the trees once the pinch bolts are loosened. While its an easy way to lower the front it is not recommended as the fender can hit the lower tree.

Also, make sure your forks have all the parts shown in this diagram. It's possible the shop who did your lowers left something out.

As far as the forks going through the trees I’ve tried both having them flush and a 16th to an 8th of an inch high. I’ve double checked instructions 3 to 4 times and have had the bike apart about the same amount of times making sure everything is correct. Could there be a bad seal in the lowers causing fluid to get by somewhere making the bike SAG?

I had a legends kit in my 16 and it was awesome. Put one in the 18 ,21 KO kit and the bike was sitting to high. I sent Legends a video of everything and they sent a second kit out and it worked fine. A tape measure won't lie so measure every thing .
What is lost in conversation is what the shop had to due to make your bike where you could ride it. And did you have the legends kit in when they corrected the problem.

unfortunately they sent 2 kits, so what are the chances they are both wrong. Also they stock set up was in there. When I drained out the old fluid I got about 10 oz which seems low.

Perhaps the thing to do is mail them your forks and let them do the installation, confirm everything is good, and mail them back to you?
