Default Exhaust Flange

This might be a stupid question but,

I have a 2018 RK I just put FM Jackpot 2-1-2 Headers on.

I followed the Workshop Manual tightening and torquing procedure

I removed and replaced the gaskets

There is a gap between the flange and the head. Is this normal or should the flange fit flush against the head?

I have no exhaust leaks

The flange is just a clamp, the seal happens at the pipe itself. Sounds fine to me.

You should be good to go. It’s good practice to retorque the flangers nuts after it’s cooled down from the first ride. I leave my heat shields off until I retorque the nuts.

Double nut if there's room on the stud.

The manual for my 2001 FXD, my son's 2004 FXDLI, and my 2003 Ultra Annie all call for torquing in stages with a final torque at 80 in. lbs....must be different for a Milwaukee 8
