I have a '14 SG. The brake pedal sticks out pretty far (stock). I want to cut it back a bit and slide the cover in to give more clearance. If I remove the pedal, will it introduce air in the master cylinder??

No, the pedal is just a lever that attaches to a rod on the rear brake master cylinder. It's a pin and cotter pin affair, just remove it then unbolt the brake lever from the pivot and remove. The floorboard will need to come off and then it will be clear to you.
Rather than cutting back your stock pedal, you could also get one of these that lowers/extends the pedal a bit, and also can use the smaller Dyna pad which will give you more room on the footboard.

Just take it off and cut it. I have done mine twice, no problems and a lot better than the truck brake pedal deal from the factory. Old style oval pad and a little clear or black paint under the pad on the cut to prevent any rust. Easy.
I also spaced the boards out 1". Putting tape on the pedal, both sides and cutting will not bother the chrome at all. That is a oem 2008 up pedal.

Band saw is the best way. Used the oval pad to get the curve correct. I cut down the the long line first then did the curves. Make sure to cut on the outside edge of the line. Then use a verticle belt sander to finish off the cut and contour. I lay them on the sander table and push lightly into the vertical belt and finish it. You can order the vintage oval brake/clutch pads through ebay, kirk etc. I got the one with two identical pads.
