Some years ago I was following a friend on an afternoon ride.
Nice stretch of road so we were running bout 75 -80mph. His back tire cut loose throwing rubber chunks. at me.
It then went flat real fast. he got over to the shoulder and stopped after what appeared to be some trick riding. LOL
I asked him what his first thought was , he responded "Leave______ I wanted to be somewhere else besides on the bike "
He got on the back of mine and we went to get my trailer. Bout 25 mi from home.
Sure enough we saw 3-4 people we knew going back into town. damn it
I had the same happen a few years ago riding around the 4-corners area with some riding buddies. I didn't put any skid marks in my shorts, but almost. I carry a tire plug kit and luckily the hole was in the center part of the tread. It took about 20 minutes to plug and inflate the tire. I checked the tire pressure every time we stopped, but no leaks. The plugs lasted about 4K miles when I replaced the tires.
I had to ride my sport bike to a gas station on a rear flat to get a plug kit some years back. I thought it was 'freeing' to ride without a cellphone but changed my mind that day.

I had my riding buddy ask me to give him a ride to the HD shop when he needed a part to get home. I gave him the fob to mine and said I'd wait here for him. I'd rather let someone I trust take my bike before I'd give him a ride

I do get that Sir
Now we live in a dessert area here. There was no shade of any kind for 5 mi or more, it was pushing 90 and gonna climb from that.
He had no helmet and had lost a doo rag while airing the bike out and had passed me.He is bald headed. He had just slowed down when this happened
I wasn't gonna set out there and cook. He had only 2 choices, stay there or get on the back.
Friends ribbed us for months with no mercy lol
Went to Zips H-D in ******* this am. Got her in and out without an appointment. They found a 3 inch screw in the rear and a cut on the front. So the old girl has two new sneakers to run around on now.
Headed south in the morning for a 14-16 day trip. Hope to get about 12-14 states in in this trip.
