So came home, turned the engine off and a day maybe two later moved(pushed) bike to shelter out of rain. Now when I turn the ignition on nothing happens. Bike is absolutely silent. Checked battery, maybe on the low side so charged it overnight but no luck. Checked all the fuses, they are intact. Cleaned terminals with a rag. Starting to think it's the ignition relay but how to check this. If ignition relay is burned should I get lights and other electrics when I turn the **** to 'Ignition'? Why would the relay burn all of a sudden when engine is turned off? I guess when you turn the ignition off after using the kill switch you could make this happen?
How high voltage should I get with the battery connected from the terminals? It's all LEDs but I guess should get lights on the dash even though there is not enough juice to turn on the lights?
Street Glide and no idea how old the batt is. Had an Electra and it chewed the battery but still got a few knocks from the starter and some lights.
Battery voltage 12 + sitting 13 to 14.5 running. Key fob battery? is the red key lite up on the speedo? Check the plug down low on the regulator. Good luck.
No key fob on this one. Nothing is lit up, bike is dead. Connections seem ok. Batt shows abt 13 on the multimeter. Ignition relay has green oxidation on one pin but otherwise looks normal.
Maybe pull the 40 Amp main fuse & test for continuity? Then see if there is voltage at pin A of the main fuse holder? If you have voltage there, next replace the main fuse, pull the P&A IGN fuse (2 Amp), turn the Ignition switch on & check for voltage at the 1A pin of the P&A IGN fuse.
You have green fuzz anywhere you need to pull and clean all the cables, cable ends and grounding points, in your environment wouldn't hurt to change the battery cables outright. I'm suspecting the high humidity has gotten to things.
Solved. Turned out that the ignition switch had somehow worked itself to a faulty position. Found out as tried to move the bike and steering lock had gone on while fiddling with it. Now the switch works just fine gotta look into it when season is over. And there is no ignition relay but a fuse and it's the start relay. Measured current from the main fuse and from the ground cable to rule out anything but the ignition switch. Dunno if the switch is supposed to do that as this bike is without any alarm so have even used the lock while parking
