One of them supposedly makes the radio or cd play louder. Another fixes fast running clocks.
Pez suggested not running higher than 8.11
I had 8.19 and didn't seem to have any problems but went back to the 8.11
Here is the answer I got from Harley Technical Support:
The previous radio (Radio Sound)needed the power interupted during starts to protect it. This was done through the starter relay. When the start button is pushed, the relay shuts off power to the radio as it turns on power to the starter solenoid. This system was carried into the '06 model year. In testing, they found that the new radio no longer needed this. As a product improvement, the radio power circuit was changed, so that radio power remains on during starts.Unfortunately, this is not an easy retrofit because a '07 main harness will not fit a '06 bike without modification due to connector changes. [sm=exactly.gif] There is no software upgrade available. It's just the way it is. Learn to live with your early HK system.
All I could see on the HD site was a down load for 8.19. Where can I get 8.11? I still have 7.8 and haven't had any issues but if I can get more volume for free, I'm all for it....

Mine had 8.11 when purchased (Oct '06 build), and it suffered from a poor memory. When turned off in CD mode it would frequently start back up in FM or AM mode, which was a known problem. It also had weak volume that distorted easily when turned up to a listenable level. I tried 8.18 (beta) and it fixed both problems, then went to the 8.19 final release later with no changes. I see no problems with 8.19 at all and don't know what the remaining problems might be, although I do notice that about once a month it does start up in AM mode, and I never shut it down in that mode since I never listen to AM. I can live with this minor irritation until another version comes along.
I believe the 8.19 will include all the previous upgrades. I'd go ahead and do that download. If you have any problems I might be able to dig up the 8.11 for you.
When you download the 8.19 version, there are 2 sections. My radio downloaded the first section, but left the previous edtion in the section section. I don't have the slightest idea what was accomplished and what didn't get done.
The radio sounds fine.
