I got to ride today a total of 64 miles. First impressions are excellent. They are setup for two-up and like my Pro-Action they felt good even solo. I will need to play with the adjustment slightly as a couple of bridge joints bucked me up a little. But the wheel stayed planted and in full control. I will wait until we can ride two-up before I make any adjustments. The sign of great rear suspension is the feel that you need to upgrade the front. I got the feeling early in the ride.

Went to the Ride In Polar Bear Bike Show at Smokin HD and got a lot of questions and compliments on these shocks.

So as far as the "20k recommended rebuild", how does that work? Do you ship them to them on your dime and pay for the service to have them rebuilt? Anyone have any idea what that costs? Maybe they could do the service work at a Bike Week even if planned ahead?

Is there any reason to get them through Harley rather than direct from Ohlins? I imagine Harley tacks some profits on top of Ohlins prices.

Remember. You're not at Roadglide.org. Things are a bit different here.

I have my front and rear Ohlins suspension rebuilt by a local authorized shop every other year which is 30,000 to 34,000 miles. I now have over 100,000 miles on my rear shocks and am still happy with their performance.

There are two service centers in Wisconsin.

Price wise pretty much the same. In my opinion it comes down to look and how you want to mount the reservoirs. If you like the color and mount on Ohlins go directly to them. In my case the HD billet mount was the selling feature.

they are actually pretty competitively priced, especially considering that they come with the brackets that if you go aftermarket, you are going to pay extra for. now, if you don't want the brackets, you could probably save a buck or two going through the aftermarket.

Brackets alone are like 300$. And even better deal if you can get them through Surdyke

I am one of those guys that run most of my expenses across my HD Visa and pays the statement off every month to get the reward points. I mostly use the reward bucks for service supplies and tires, but it makes buying stuff like this through HD pretty painless if you can pile up the points. I have Legend remote reservoir shocks on my EGS so not really looking at these, but like others have said, these aren't way overpriced like some of the stuff Harley puts their logo on. I would likely get these through HD is I was in the market for rear shocks.

Does anyone have a picture of how you mounted the reservoir behind the tour pack?
