Been trying to find a American Dunlop Elite 180/65 b16 in narrow white. Not available until next year at a cost of $345.00 + or -
Blackwall available now for $250.00 + or - if shipped.
I got 21k miles off the tire so I hate to use something else.
BUT if I have to is it a good idea to mix brands? I'll wait until the beginning of March but already have the tire dismounted.
Tires aren't the only things hard to get. Sometimes doing a lot of searches can turn up something. But it's a lot of work. There's no problem mixing brands as long as there's no fit problem. It's perfectly safe. Maybe not cool to your liking. But then that's the way it goes sometimes. NOW. Don't give up just yet. on getting what you really want. March is a way off. And things loosen up now and then. Get your order in at a couple of places just in case one comes in. You can always cancel the rest if one does. So hang in there.

I have a Dunlop AE on the front, and a Michelin C3 on the rear. Many won't mix, but to me as long as you're not mixing a radial with a bias it doesn't matter.
A sport bike rider buddy found some AEs for me in the correct size a couple months ago at a sport bike dealer three hours away. They dont ship tires so I drove 6 hours round trip and gotem. Recent production, too.
I try to match tire profiles if mixing brands. Some tires (Metzler for one) used to have a peaky profile (center was higher/thicker). Other tires have a more rounded profile. I would not mix radial and bias ply tires. Other than that, go for it.
I just found a new old stock Bridgestone Battlecruise I will try I was not sure at first but I will put it on my 07 because I don’t ride it much since I bought my trike.
Have a new 180/55/18 AE in my garage now, cycle gear notified me when available so have one ready when needed this spring. you might want to check their site and mark which you need and they will email you when in stock.
