Default BRAKE Pad life ?

I have a 2017 Ultra Limited with about 14K miles. What in your experience is the average life of break pads front and back? What are the best break pads? Is this a DIY project? Thank You Sam

EBC double sintered pads are a great choice for these heavy bikes. There is a break in procedure for any brake pad - Following it will reduce any noise or dust issues.
Easy DIY job for anyone who can do their own basic maintenance. Follow the steps outlined in the service manual and you'll have good, reliable braking.

Brakes are not a place to cheap out and get the value brand. They are already pretty cheap for the service life. I am hard on pads and tend to get around 30,000 miles before replacing them all as a set. The rear ones I replace at 15,000 miles so twice as often.

It is a pretty simple job if you have any kind of mechanical ability, just remember to remove the spring clip on the retaining pin before pulling it out. About a 30 min job front and rear, longer if you flush the brakes. I put new Galfer wave rotors and Galfer pads on to replace my oem cvo stuff. Had 25k on the stock pads, fronts were toast but the rear still had a good bit left (I rarely use the rear brake)

Don't forget to flush your brake and clutch fluid, it should have been done twice on your bike by now - Every two years.

I replaced the rears on my 19 SGS at 28519 miles, and still have 50% on the fronts at 45263 miles. I see no reason to use anything other than OEM pads since they work great and I'm getting this kind of miles out of them.

I put EBCs on my front. They work well, but have a scrubbing sound. Its actually kind of cool, because I can tell at what speeds the front “ breaks” engage when I apply just the rears. It was a “DYI” for me, and it was pretty damn easy, especially if you watch some YouTube videos.
