From what I am reading here, I will think twice before I buy a Harley with the alarm system. I don't need any more electronic gadgetry trying to outsmart me. This computer provides enough challenges, thank you.

Not exactly the same thing, but a definite brain fart. Yesterday I stopped somewhere and shut the bike off turning it all the way left to the Acc. position. When I got back on I instinctively turned the switch one click to the right. Nothing, no lights, no starter. After two or three tries I realized I had now moved the switch to the OFF position. We are all creatures of habit. Luckily I was alone with no one watching so my stupidity was kept to myself (until now). I guess it doesn't take much to outsmart me.

Try this one!Talk about creature of habit.....I decided to take a lady friend of minecrotch rocket out for a spin one morning. I'm out hitting it hard and all of a sudden, the bike dies on me. I pull over and it will not start. I open the tank and yep...out of gas. I'm fussing and a cussing stranded on the side of the rode, because I asked the question before getting the keys!So I started WALKING to the nearest store to call someone because I left my cell on MY BIKE! Did I mentionI was on a nice back country road playing around with some curves?? So...after about a 1/2 mile of walking in the freaking heat and about 30 - 40 min later, it hit me! These damn things have a reserve Tank! Back to the bike and off I go!

I have also rode away without the fob and key but being a 04 at least I could have gone home and got it back, had the better half mail it to my destination and used the cable and disc lock, it sure does make you feel better though to have the fork and ignition locked with the alarm armed when at a hotel though. To avoid this happening I now have one fob on one of those neck clip things for ID and I laced the other fob to my riding boots. Makes me feel better and I have yet to ride off without that stuff since. I also on many occasions forget to disarm it and get on the bike and have the siren scream at me, this causes a couple of my riding buddies much embarrassment but not me because I could give a crap what anyone else thinks.
