I Would like to know from anyone that has the J&M windshield pouches for the ultra and streetglide if they vibrate alot when ideling or are they pretty solid. The way they appear to be made with the part that goes between the fairing and the windshild looks like they would be a lot more solid than the Harley ones that I have now that have the metal base with the 3 metal hooks that go between the windshield and fairing. I tried alot of different ways to try and eleminate the rattle they make and the shaking butnothing works likeI want it to. It's basically a cheap pi$$ poor design using metal that is too thin.
I'll chime in and agree with you that the Harley ones will drive a person crazy. Had a tech at a shop tell me that he used 3m to attach so foam padding between the pouches and his windshield and that it helped eliminate the rattle. Sounded a little cheesy to me so mine are still rattling away.
Actually I did that and used black Insulation fill (3m type) from Lowe's and it has been a huge improvement on mine, although it does from time to time shake a little. You do not really notice it as well. I really hated that vibration and noise. It looks to me althought the material is thin it is not fully supported under the metal by on each end by the the inner fairing (At least on the 06 SG).
I hated the rattle too from the windshield pouch on my 02. I tried putting velvet stick ons between the corners of the bag and the windshield which helped but after a while the velvet slipped and I was back to square one.
On my 07, I put these Glove Door Pouches, Part #57400-06 (page 438 in the 2008 catalog) on the lowers. They slip over the doors, one on each side and are large enough to carry my calculator, cell phone, small things like aspirin and sunblock. No rattles, no inhibition of windshield view. My garage door opener sits on the top of the inner fairing on piece of velcro.
