Road King Gas Tank
I have been wanting to do something different with the King, so please forgive me if this question has been asked before........
Is there anybody that offersa different gas tank with more swooping/flowing curves on the bottom and top of the tank? I just want a little different look.....maybe something on the style of the (dont shoot me) VTX 1300 or Victory Gas tanks.....
Also wondering if anybody ever put pull-back barson..., like what are on soft-tails?
Also any 5* reasonable rake kits out there??
Just thinking...anybody
Thanks In Advance

[ul][*]He is just doing a tank that is (within reason ) adjustable until ordered from 4 gal to 10 gal as they can be cut & welded at any width.[*]It wraps around, in the rear to the curve of the seat.[*]It is smooth top with one aircraft filler.[*]Carb is std. and the EFI unit has a concealed fuel pump that is external (big Cubes no problems here)and the low fuel warning light is a remote LED.[*]Gauges must be mounted elsewhere (think Dakota, like handlebars). There is no dash, go to HD for that style. This goes for the Road King like you got.[*] Think a long low smooth chopper tank but on a FL.[*]Not like the bulbous tanks for sale for the ridicules price of over a $ grand plus WTF? [*]Custom made for you![/ul]Now for the raked triple tree question. Next Post.
But who am I to you, no buddy!
Biking is for the individual so you should do with your bike what you want. I have seen raked out FL bikes before. I believe you will have a bit of a problem here as the triple trees already have a 4 1/2 degree rake and are located behind the steering stem. With the current offset, you have 6.2" of trail, which is lazy and non-responsive at best. If you cut and rake the neck, extend fork tubes to make frame level, your trail & wheel flop will increase even more.
If you wish, you can decide to do this project by figuring out what is acceptable by:
1. Downloading your own âRake & Trail Calculatorâ from here. LINK: motorcyclemetal.com/ Do not worry, it is safe as there is no Spyware or any other kind of crap on my site or in this application. The phone # is mine to call & bitch at anytime.
2. The next thing you do is decide on how âmuch overâ stock fork length you need to go. For a list of fork lengths go to your Do-It-Yourself section for the information
3. Than go to the Metzeler Partial Tire Guide under âCarbon Fiber Wheel Sizes,â view or download the PDF than you can calculate both the projected rear and front diameter sizes + tire weight and sidewall profile.
4. With all of the above information calculated, go to the âRake & Trail + Our Solutionâ and pick and choose what information is applicable to your project.
5. With the bike frame measured for your wanted ground clearance, adjust your shock length with (bike + riders = Total) sag included, for the wanted rear swingarm height.
6. Next calculate out using your new âR &T calculatorâ you just installed, by using the above information what rake, trail, and triple tree offset is needed to accomplish your desired handling characteristics.
7. With that finished, than figure out how much total sag is in the front forks, allow for that by adding to fork length.
Now you do not need any friendâs to tell you how to do it. You have done it yourself and since you have done it yourself, you are positive it is correct.
I wonder if OCC does this? I guess I might have missed that episode. There you have it, good luck!
They already handle bad enough (IMO)... With the current offset, you have 6.2" of trail, which is lazy and non-responsive at best.
