streetglide problems?

1. The floorboards, my size 8 boot won't stay on, couldn't believe how narrow they where, let alone be able to move my foot around.
1. The floorboards, my size 8 boot won't stay on, couldn't believe how narrow they where, let alone be able to move my foot around.
2. The brakes, the first stop sign scared the hell out of me I didn't think I was going to stop, I really had to grab a handful. Hope the brembo on the 08 are better. Brembo's are on the victory.
3. the first stop sign I almost broke my wifes foot. Her foot is on my calf so she will have to move her foot evertime I stop.
4. the 92cu vic motor will run circles around the harley96. Already proven. both have stage one pipes and a/c.
5. Suspension is a little firm, but may not be not a bad thing only on the bike for an hour.
6. My foot doesn't fit under the shifter have to use the heel shifter, looks like that is adjustable.
The added inch suspension on the EC make that big adifference?
I'm talking about alot of money to get the bike the way I want it, is it worth it? A lot of money just to bring it up to victory standards that I'm use to. Why??? Trying to talk myself into it but I shouldn't have to do that of settle for something. HELP..........
get the Victory and get the stepping (LOL)---
if the HD does not move you some kind of way it's not the bike for you.
May want to check out a goldwing

Dude.... all motorcycles have two wheels .... but ONLY HARLEY"S HAVE A SOUL !!!! Size 8???? Maybe your MOMMY will let you buy a HARLEY when you grow up !!! Go buy your victory ..... you deserve an overhead cam !!!!
Bruce, I honestly want to believe you are just looking for knowlege, so here goes:
1) I had some problems getting used to the floorboards on my 06 SG. I finally installed some of the Kuryakyn floorboard extenders and that solved the problem. They push the boards out about 3/4" from stock.
2) The brakes are stopping a much heavier bike than your Victory. Sure they are not the best brakes on the planet, but they work great once you get used to the braking characteristics of the bike. Just like cars stop better than trucks...
3) I don't know if there were passenger boards installed on the bike you rode or adjustable pegs, but I've had fewer problems with my wife's feet being in the way on my SG than I had on my 88 FXRS. Of course, you may be one to plant your feet a little early so that you have to adjust after a stop. That will happen on any bike you are not familiar with.
4) A stock Harley motor is choked by the EPA regs. Install a stage I and pipes and you'll be fine. Also, refer to answer 2. Heavier bike.
5) The SG you borrowed may not have had any air in the rear shocks. Believe it or not, 5-10 psi makes a world of difference solo and 10-20 for two up riding will make the wife happy.
6) Shifter is fully adjustable and if the owner of the bike you borrowed is like me, he probably lowered it from the stock position. I actually use the heel/toe arrangement and Harley puts em too high for comfort.

I know I'm going to get an earful here, after all this is a harley fourm, but remember thats why I'm here. New to riding the last 5 years after a 20 year life brake. LOL. and it turns out the type of riding I do a touring bike suits my riding style better. But don't want a full blown dresser, hence street glide comes in, hard bags, fairing, radio........ best of both worlds, still have some bling and thehot rod look. I've been hanging around the last few months and have the pipes, seat, bag extensions already picked out and other mods to customize it to make it mine. Planning to purchase in the beginning of the year,( I get all my overtime paid in one check at the end of the year) I currently have a 2004 victory kingpin. My buddy made the plunge and bought an 07 leftover streetglide. I got a chance to ride it and I wasn't impressed. I'm trying to keep an open mind, and tell myself that a lot of it I will get use to just used to my bike, but.................. some issues that I have

everything can be changed to suit me thats half the fun, but the motor is big bucks, and the postion of the footpegs your stuck.
I don't intend this to be a rant or bash I'm here because the parts are available to customize it the way I want, vic aftermarket is terrible.
so my questions are......... Anybody have any suggestions with thepassenger footpegs, never heard a complaint on that but I

Bruce, if you think you're "settling" by buying a new SG then you are truly a lost cause. If Victory standards are so high, as you imply, they'd be selling a lot more of them. Last time I was in a Victory dealership, the place was empty and they were slashing prices in an attempt to dump inventory before the dealership went under. If Victory was building bikes that people wanted to ride, then we'd all be riding them. But they're not building 'em andwe're not riding 'em......we're riding Harley's. If you want to find out why, thenbuy the SG and start living the Harley dream. If you don't, thenbe happy with what you got. But just remember, you'll neverknow the truth.
