Default Wide Glide Bars on Road Glide

Had the day off with time to work on the bike. Installed Wide Glide Bars and Kury grips. Haven't had tome to ride it yet but they feel nice. The grips are much fatter which I like. The arm and hand angle seems to be more comfortable too. I also sit back just a little farther.

Took me a couple hours since I am real careful. Read alot of posts on this forum about changing bars and grips which really helped. Had to route the clutch cable differently and bend the brake line. The wires are just long enough to reach. If the bars were any larger, I'd be SOL.

Hopefully the weather will break long enough for a good ride tomorrow. I'll post how much I like them (If I do.)

I'am interested in doing the same mod when my roadie comes. I'am 6'2" though and wonder if I would be cramped on the bike with them?

They really don't come back very much further than stock. I was expecting more. It's a good thing though really because the brake line and wiring would have to be changed. The real difference is in the hand angle. They allow my arms to be closer to my body which I hope will take some strain off my shoulders and make riding more comfortable.

I'm sure there are others on this forum that can add to this discussion. Anyone???

They are taller.

Be sure to get yourself one of the clutch cable clamps that come from the factory on RK's and fasten the cable to the side of the left fork leg (same as on the RK), or you will find that the cable gets snagged on those large bolts that attach the speedo/tach housing to the side of the fork legs.

Yes, I did get the clamp. It is a standard clamp that you can find at any store including ACE. I routed the cable outside the crash bar and outside the forks. This clamp is on the top of the two bolts.

I'm seriously thinking about doing the WG bars on mine too. For some reason, my index finger, middle finger, and thumb have a habit of going numb on ride. This is the first bike it's ever happened on, and I think it might be the angle of the bars. Thing is, I really like the stock bars, just don't like my fingers going numb.

Just tilt 'em forward a little if they come back further than you like. Mine are tilted forward a little, & a friend of mine has his tilted back. We're both more comfortable than with the stock bars. Either way they'll improve your sitting position, take strain off your arms & shoulders, & make a *BIG* improvement in what you can see with your mirrors.
