I want to get a rider (driver) back rest for my 2006 FLHTCU. I know on my last dresser I originally had a pillow look backrest. It was too straight up. I eventially changed to a Corbin Seat & back rest. It adjusted to fit me. Does anyone have experience with the Harley Adjustable Back Rest? Will it lean back. I'm a big guy and don't like sitting straight up. Really don't want to invest in a new seat and back rest right now.
I have an adjustable driver backrest on mine and love it. Took me a few times to get it where i wanted it as far as the angle goes, but now it is great. Would not leave home without it. It has a set screw that you can adjust the angle of the pad or you can adjust the angle of the entire backrest with the mounting bracket if you like. Thats why it took me a few miles to get mine where I wanted it.
Tough call Luke - I put the adjustable one on mine so I would be able to move it around during a ride. I love it but I am not a big guy. It does go back quite a bit but I don't know for sure if it will go back far enough for ya - Would sit on a bike with one if you get the chance
As everyone else is saying, get the Harley one, they have alot of models to pick from. Some are big and some are small. Some have pouches on back. I got the smallest one they had and love it when I have my 2 up seat on. Around town I use a solo seat which has some built in back support.
It would be best if you could go to a dealer that has all the styles in stock so you can look at them and pop one on your bike to see how it feels. I got mine from Saint Paul Harley which has all the styles in stock and they let me take it out to my bike to slip it on.
Love mine! It has the small lever on the left side of your ride that allows you to lean back to move it back. If you pull the lever while not leaning on the backrest it will move forward to meet your back.
Easy to remove once you learn where to push. My salesman was telling me it was on on of the sides, it is not, it is behind the backrest under the seat. A snap to do to remove it.
I have the removeable HD backrest, it has no cable adjust system, it didn't angle back enough to start with, I ended up bending the bar on mine in a hydraulic press, it didn't take much bending to get it right, it's perfect for me now and I don't leave home without it.
