I thought the adjustable one was worth the extra 100 or so... I like to take long day trips and I like the option of changing positions along with the backrest. I like being able to change the backrest to adjust to how I want to sit instead of adjusting how I sit if I want to use the backrest.... The funny thing is I bought mine in Vegas (I'm from Canada) and saved over a hundred from what they want for it up here.. So I thought I got a HELL of a deal!

I had a hell of a time installing it though. The instructions were terrible, but like many have said, they are terrible for ALL Harley add ons. But I DID get it on so... There's that. Plus I have stubby little sausage fingersso that didn't help anything. It's just all about patience....

Mine is pretty sloppy too.. Moves side to side (Not when I am riding). I like the idea of the electrical tape though - I may try that.

Now I say all of this with only about 25 miles on the backrest (Itcan getc-c-c-cold up here in October) but I am pretty confident this is the most comfortable bike I've ever owned.

Ron,
sounds good let me know. I really dont have that much of a problem with the bars still pretty comfortable the backrest actually helps since I can have it adjusted a little forward which takes me reaching for the bars.

yeah i had to cut just above the original holes and then drilled two new holes to replace the old ones.
locks in place for me and gives me a little more support on my lower back. had to do a little grinding on the sides as well as they need to be beveled a little to slide all the way down just like the original was.
Yes, I did notice the beveled part. Did you do anything to prevent it from flopping around so much or does it still do that? I have a Street Glide seat on my Ultra and since it is thinner than the Ultra seatthe backrest padsits high above the seat and flops around. I am trying to find a fix for that. Although it doesn't affect the functionality of thebackrest it is annoying.
The flopping around is caused by the holes that are drilled into the backrest are just a hair bit to large. The electrical tape idea works alright as a quick fix but for a permanent fix either cut the inch off as suggested earlier and redrill two smaller holes or plug the origanal holes and redrill either way problem solved no flopping or wobble anymore..............
