Default How do I remove (and replace) Adjustable Rider Backrest

Hello,
I had the dealer install my adjustable rider backrest and didn't receive instructions. When my wife rides with me on my EG, I would prefer to not have the backrest on. Can someone tell me how to remove it, and how to reinstall it?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Squeeze the spring loaded support rods together to remove or insert!

I have one on my EG and actually the adjustable backrest uses a different method - it doesn't have the rods that squeeze together like the stationary one. You reach into the seat right behind the backrest (palm facing back), and you'll feel like a lip that sticks up and angles back slightly. You pull that back (away) from the backrest which releases it, and pull the backrest forward and up to get it out. To install it, hold that lip back gain and insert the tongue into the bracket, let go, push the backrest down and it will snap into place. Hope that helps!

I installed the4 Adjustanble back rest to my Ultra. To remove the rest, there is a button on the back of the rest. you can not see it, but you can feel it. Push the button, pull the rest straight up. To re-install, simply slide the rest back into the reciever and snap into place.

On mine that button only raises or lowers the backrest on the bar, it does not release it from the adjustable mounting bracket. Kinda looks like there's several different version out there huh!

Might be talking bout two different things here...

The "button" on the back of the rest (in the middle of the rear of the backrest) is for the vertical adjustment only. The "release" for removing the back est is located at the base of the backrest (on the back side) and is more of a "tab" that needs to be pressed towards the rear of your bike (while pulling up on the backrest pad to remove)
