If you mean a download or remap, with just slip ons the answer is no. You should be good to go. If you change the A/C or header pipes then yes you would need a download or fuel management system.
The answer is probably no and I wouldn't worry to much about slip ons. The only concern that I bring and someone else please chime in here is that the VH are much bigger baffles than say a SE pipe. So with that in mind it is going to flow much better than a standard slipon pipe which could hurt the AFR table a little more.
I believe you are right on the money Boarguard, I have Vance and Hines Pythons and the Diameter of the Baffle hole is bigger but, normally with just this mod you don't need to remap. Ride it, if you rode it before and you KNOW your bike, it will tell you if it needs to be done.
You'll be ok... But outside of making the system Louder... You will not see and real performance gains... Complete the STAGE 1 and you'll get improved performance (gain in HP & Torque upto 15%) - Your Bike will better address the HEAT ISSUES (run cooler)
Never throw your $$$ away with a Download as they (the dealer) will still have to adjust the system within EPA guidelines (which will still be lean & lean = heat) - If a Stage 1 is all the Mods you're planning on doing to your engine... Then I would recommend a V&H FuelPak and a Ness Big Sucker and THEN YOU WILL GET THE PERFORMANCE GAIN & REDUCE THE HEAT ISSUES on your Putt...
I was told by two dealers in my area that any aftermarket fuel computer will void your warranty if they can tell it was installed and led to engine problems. My question is, can they tell you had a V&H FuelPak installed? If you have an engine problem, I think the first thing I would do is put my bike back to stock and take it in for warranty work.....

Any thoughts?
Sure, ask them if they sell the FP and do installation... They will probably say sure, bring it in and it won't affect your warrenty..... just sayin'....
My dealer had no problem with the FP but I wenttheHD dealer installed route with V&H true duals, V&H Ovals,SE AC and the Stage 1 and have reduced the heat issue to non noticeable, improved my performance and love the new sound.
It's pricey when compared to just adding slip ons for under $300 but hey, this is my new ride for the retirement years and she gets all my fun money.
