Holy cow this is what the 4th or 5th failure out of how many thousands installed. Get a grip people. I'll bet if the MotorCo does a failure analysis there are probably a couple of improper installs and one or two defects in the entire bunch that has failed. Honest the sky isn't falling.

It appears that all but a fraction of the reported IDS problems involve retrofits as opposed to factory installs on '08 models. This fact points towards an installation and/or fitment problem, not an inherent problem with the IDS unit or any "conspiracy theory" involving H-D.

ok, I will bet no body will connect these two subjects.
the subject of this post andthe following quote.

"In Germany, they came first for the Communists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist;

And then they came for the trade unionists, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist;

And then they came for the Jews, And I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew;

And then . . . they came for me . . . And by that time there was no one left to speak up."
what I am saying is what I've been saying all along.
The IDS is a damn bandaid.
HD could not suffer the problems that existed for many on the 07's again in the 08's.
They didn't have the collective gonads to stand up and admit aproblem existed and take care of it. so they soin doctored everything with all kinds of flawed reasonings to get you to shut up.
Then bring out this IDS.
the point of the rant is.
You all come here to the different forums and whine and complaint and bemoan this and that.
But you don't stand up to HD and demand a proper repair.
So you get what you deserve. NOTHING.
The man above didn't stand up for his fellow men either, in the end he was left standing alone.
I keep telling you , We (the owners, buyers and riders ) have the power to correct this.
Band together.
approximately 100 colonists banded together and took England to her knees!
This is no different. Provided you all have the ***** to do it. I doubt any of you do.
And NO I don't hate HD. Just want them to take care of us owners properly!!

What the ? One post about an improperly installed part, the situation was adressed and you you are back in colonial England times. CooCoo, you are a unique individual. God BlessYa.

I have read about these ids problems on this forum.......... All I have read about are failures from upgrades. Does anyone know of an ids failure on a bike where it was factory installed?

I have an 08 Road King with factory IDS. I replaced the cushions once as a precaution when changing from the 66 tooth pulley to the 68 tooth pulley that was at about 20,000 miles. Now at over 102,000 and no problems. It has been trouble free. Some report changing the cushions on every other tire change but I see no reason for that if it looks" healthy". If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

thanks, I bought new rubber isolators and it fixed my problem. New ones fit very snugly in pulley, old ones were looser and floppier and were due. About $6-7 each, needed 6.

alloy art makes the green poly ones that reportedly hold up better.
