I guess being in California since you changed the pipes, the dealer could say that is what is causing your idle problems.
If doing the procedure in your manual dosen't work, and you decide to go with a Power Commander or what have you, find a mechanic that knows how to tune a Harley first. Then ask him what he recommends and what he knows best to properly tune the bike.
Personally I prefer the SERT. Go to bike nights, or talk to other local guys and see who they can recommend for you.
Thanks Steelknees, and everyone...
I did the procedure in the manual and so far it seems to be working. Started up after work and idle was perfect.
Just not sure why it decides on its own to idle up...
Rear brake is still making some noise, but on a day like today WTF. Feels like low 80's with a slight ocean breeze, freeway traffic was light and I enjoyed the ride home, guess that's what it's all about anyway.

08 SG FIRST 1000 K OK. DEALER DID 1000 K SERVICE. LEFT FOR BIKE WEEK FROM PA. NOT SO GOOD AFTER THAT. SHIFTER FELL OFF - BRAKE NOISE- OIL LEAK ( LOST TRANS FLUID) WENT INTO FORCED IDLE MODE
ON RT 95 IN PASSING LANE ! DEALER SAYS THEY WON'T DO ANY REPAIR UNTIL IT DOES IT TWICE. MY BIKE HAS ALL THE OTHER T.B.W. PROBLEMS THAT OTHER 08 SG HAVE .
4500 MILES ON BIKE NOW. HOPE IT GETS BETTER, WANT TO PUT 25,000 K ON THIS YEAR!
RIDE ON!!!!
I put 500 mi on an 08 RG without any idle issues. I put 1000 mi on an 08 ultra and had the warm high idle problem twice. The difference is someone turned on the eitms on the ultra, supposed to be disabled from the factory. Turned it off, no problems so far.
Please don't tell my dealer, I'd rather leave him in the dark.
