Hey All, been enjoying this board for a while and decided to pull the trigger on an '08 RKC. Many questions. Any/all help much appreciated. What is a fair price for the scoot, MSRP is $17950 and the local HD Sales Rep when asked said $17950.Also, I'm thinkingoil cooler, Beachbars and HK3' Res Tecs (louder but not to loud). I'm 6' and 220 Lbs. Any other must do mods? Thanx all, lookin forward to many good years.
First of, congrats. Depending on the place, you may be able to get them to knock off freight and dealer prep charges. Some places will also give you a discount say 20% on parts and accessories you want to add. You might want a good set of highway pegs to stretch those long legs out on the open road. (I'm 6'3" and I know I need the stretch no my RK). Show us some pics when you get it. Good luck. I'm sure more advice and opinions will be flooding in. [sm=biker2.gif]
Hi, good luck on your purchase. Some of the things I read
in this forum helped me a lot. I could have gotten discounts
from some dealers, but found out, I would end up paying more.
things I read to ask before signing
1 free delivery?
2 cost of 1,000 check up. (some dealers try to void the warranty if you do it)
3 cost of set up for the bike.
4 exact cost for having options installed
Sure enough, the dealers that wanted to discount. Also wanted to charge
for all 4 items. Some of the charges were excessive, IMHO
I bought from the dealer, that was the most upfront, and honest.
I am very happy with my purchase, and have confidence in my dealer.
New RK should be delivered this week. I hope this helps. Good Luck
Even with the state of things now, buying at MSRP is just fine. My local dealer is 2K over, and will not negotiate. Remeber to ask if any performance mods (SE A/C: pipes-'Stage 1', or a 103" kit, &SERT) that you buy at the time of purchase will be covered under the warranty. Most will do this if it is done at time of purchase, but the warranty may only apply to their dealership... If you are planning it anyways, you might as well see if you can get a warranty for it, IMO...
MSRP without any fees is a very good price. Under MSRP without fees is a steal.
Guess I stole mine on Saturday then. '08 SG, Vivid, CC, Security, ABS.. paid $425 over MSRP without the add-ons..no set-up fees either.
We got a brand new dealer in town that's lookin' for biz, givin' good discounts. With 8 other dealers within 50 miles, just worked 'em until I found the right price and didn't have to wait a month or more for delivery. Too bad we got 8" of snow today...guess I'll have to wait until Wednesday to ride it home.

I got the same thing you did on Saterday. That is funny. You did good. I was surprise I got the saleman to waive the freight fee also. I think some dealers wanted to move inventory at the end of the month.
