Bought this item off Sorgy's on E-Bay. Took all of 5 minutes to replace stock heat shield and cover the blue piece of exhaust pipe by the brake pedal. I could never understand why HD just didn't extend the heat shield to create a clean finish. This is a direct replacement to the short heat shield and just goes on with two clamps. It really makes an amazing difference.
Now wouldn't you just love to hear the thinking of the engineer at Harley as to why they needed to leave that long, ugly gap. Please.... I just can't stand to think they did that on purpose just to sell more accessories. I think I'll order one of these too...
THANKS for this! Just bought one myself. I purchased quite a few things from Sorgys in the past for my Sportster. They are one of the eBay good guys. Don't hesitate to recommend them.
(Not associated with them in any way, just a happy customer.)

Hate to say it, but yes, they did it to sell more parts. We didn't pay enough already for the bike. We need to buy parts to do what the factory should've done right the first time. Why do you think there's such a vast array of aftermarket parts?
