Smile RG short persons handlebars

Several people gave mention to the handlebars being harder to reach on the Roadglide thread recently posted ("road glide or street glide for a short person"). Since I was one of them and, since the bike is fairly new to me, I was wondering what choices were available to improve on it as far as different bars is concerned. Making the bike work comfortably is the key here. Nothing worse than a long days ride ending with shoulders and, back and, neck kincked into a knot. Hope the shorter crowd with hands on experience will chime in on this one for those who will most be able to benefit and improve their situation. Thanks.

I'd like to get in on this thread. I have a Road Glide and would like to put bars on that will look good and allow me to stop reaching. I'd also like to know if there are a set of bars that will accomplish this without changing cables. I don't mind changing the front brake cables. They'll probably be changed out for braided stainless anyway. I just don't like the idea of messing with the TBW throttle.

How about approaching the problem through the seat? I have an 08 Street Glide, and I sent my seat in to Mean City Cycles and had Allen push me up about an inch. Made all the difference. And my toosh likes the memory foam ALOT!!!

I just bought a set of '08 Road King Classic bars yesterday, with the intention of installing today. From what the dealer in Slidell, La. and I could come up with, the pullback will increase about 2" with about a gain of 2" in rise.

I went with a set of Heritage bars on mine. I can now sit back against my backrest and keep both hands on the grips. I did not have to change any cables or wires. The FBW throttle wires have about 6" of play. Once I changed the bars I still had quite a bit of slack in the wires. I then went with a Sundowner seat, now I and a passenger are good for all day.

Smile Hey HDMomma

I appreciate the seat suggestion, but I'm not trying to get closer to the fairing, I'm trying to get closer to the fiancee on the back. Of course, I can't speak for bigtop1 and it is his thread. I would just like to relax my position a little and be able to get up against my backrest (fiancee). At one time, I also considered having the seat lowered, but after about 9000 comfortable miles, I'm afraid to mess with it. The Road Glide doesn't feel nearly as tall as it used to. But, my lowered Dyna now feels like a mini-bike.

You didn't say what year your RG was.

I have Wild1s Chubby 508 bars on my 06 RG. They were on the bike when I bought it. I do not have to reach at all to grab the bars. As they say on thier website "It puts you in the Comfort Zone!" I also have a Mustang seat. I did however have to get used to the hand position which now feels normal to me.

On the front page of the Wild1 website it say all their bars now accept the TBW.

Orion1369,
Can you give a detailed description on how to get the bars off the RG, and explain the TBW disconnection.
